last saturday, my husband and i decided to do something wild. B-I-N-G-O!!! i told the cashier to watch out because i considered myself to be a professional bingo player. i ended the night winless. professional bingo player status DENIED. quite ironically, we had to pick numbers for an in between extra bonus game. you couldn’t use double numbers. only i would accidentally write down 36 twice. it’s not like i had 75 other numbers to choose from. professional bingo player status officially struck from my existing life.
- a golf tournament in Kansas City.
we spent this weekend in KC. we had a two day golf tournament. we couldn’t have asked for better weather or company. my dad hosts about 10 golf tournaments a year. this one kicked off 2018. what a way to bring in another golf year. family, friends and golf. quite honestly, what could be better?
- a wedding in Kansas City
we also attended my husband cousin’s wedding in downtown KC. it was perfect in every way. the venue, the ceremony, the location. we absolutely loved it. we even enjoyed a walk around the venue to take in the graffiti. as an artist, i truly appreciate a kick ass graffiti wall.
- a daddy/daughter bond.
during the wedding, my husband invited my daughter on to the dance floor. the only picture i could capture was this. it’s totally grainy and terrible lighting but to me it is perfect. it captures a moment that will forever be etched in my heart. after their dance, gracie looked up at her dad with tears in her eyes and said “daddy, i hope someday i will marry a man just like you.” check please, excuse me while i mop my pile of goo heart up from the dance floor.
- Dunkle from KC Bier Co.
a year ago, i tasted the best beer in Kansas City. i totally forgot to write the name down and have dreamt about it continuously. this weekend we were reunited. and you better bet your booty that we brought a few 6 packs home.
- Blu Sushi.
we will never be in or drive past Omaha NE without stopping at Blu Sushi. our favorite rolls are cruncy la, hot popper, tidal wave, and the hawaiian. we literally crave Blu. between my KC Bier Dunkle restock and a tummy full of sushi, i’m one happy girl.
- The Handmaid’s Tale on Hulu.
are you watching this? it’s insane. incredibly written and intensely creepy. i can’t get enough.
- Affirmation Cards.
these are something i’ve been working on forever. since i’m trying to do some digital art, i thought i would play around with them on my ipad pro. read more about them here. one day, these babies will come to life. as i always say, “all in good timing.” 9. Wrigley, our Golden Retriever.
we have a golden. his name is wrigley (hi wrigley). he loves his male owner and long car rides. he also makes the seat belt signal sound off when he is seating in the front seat. he is 140 pounds. his weight does not define him. but his weight has started to affect his hips and joints. so poor wrigley got put on a diet. we were told to give him carrots, cucumbers, green beans and rice cakes. we are a week in. i’m not sure he’s real impressed. i can hear other dogs shouting “give that dog some spanx and let him have a milk bone for God sakes.”
i feel like every post i write could be about her. motherhood is my life. she is my world. we found out this week that she made the girl’s ensemble at Lincoln High School. yep, she starts highschool next year. that is a super hard pill for me to swallow. this weekend in Kansas City, i just watched her. we laughed, held hands, hung out, cracked jokes, explored, snuggled, etc. it’s all these silly little moments that make it unfathomable for me to imagine a life without her next to me. the stretch marks from her on my stomach are fading but i swear the stretch marks on my heart are developing at a high rate of speed.
