I woke up this morning and wondered….”hmmmmmm…what shall i do today?” I decided to make a new friend….that new friend’s name….”Sangria” By the time noon rolled around, i had lemons, limes, oranges stewing in rum…waiting patiently for my the fruit to ferment..thank goodness i started it at noon and not at 9…or else i wouldn’t be coherent enough to be blogging this recipe. Now keep in mind, i’ve never had sangria before…but i love me some wine…and when you add rum, sugar, wine and fruit together…seriously what could go wrong. Wine is always the answer…no matter what the question….Cheers….*hiccup*
1 bottle of red wine
1 1/2 cups rum
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup orange juice
Cut up fruit into slices and pour rum and sugar over them…let them refrigerate for 2 hours…at 1 hour i went in and stirred and mushed up the pulp a little. after the time has SLOWLY passed….pull from fridge, mash up fruit again…just by pushing fruit against side of bowl with a spoon. pour mixture into a serving pitcher…..add 1 cup orange juice….now, cork that bottle of vino and mix with fruits, sugars and rums….
THIS SENORITA NEEDS A SANGRIA!
cut up you fruits…..oh these colors make me happy! and no, you’re not imagining…i had one strawberry left over from Gracie’s morning snack…so guess where that little guy got to go? into the sangria fruit
here’s the lovely ingredients….if you notice, i have a bottle of white wine in the picture….but i made a desparate text to my husband to stop by on his way home from guard duty and grab a bottle of cab….i feed his tummy…he feeds my cooking addiction!
here’s the fruit fermenting in the wine…i feel so well rounded by using the word “ferment” ~imagine me holding a wine glass, pinky in air, chest puffed up and pah pah pah -ing
Here’s my new friend…isn’t she beautiful…gotta go now…need to get acquainted
on a side note: you can also add seltzer or 7-up to make her bubble…and any kind of fruit you wanna throw in… works…she’s flexible like that!
